Empath= AIR/ Thought and Water/Emotion
(It is important to note not just empaths & HSP can get imbalanced. In fact….. Many individuals who are normally very grounded and have allot of fire energy can get more out of balanced because they aren’t use to dealing with that kind of energy imbalance. Never the less—- the physical, emotional and spiritual manifestations are the same for HSP an non HSP & Empaths. What is important to note is the physical body is a reflection of ones internal state. Weight, stress, skin dullness and looking old before ones time are all subtle signs that one needs to take better care of their health starting with a daily practice of attending to their spiritual and physical hygiene…..
All HSP an Empaths have allot of internal dialogue which affects the physiology of the human body. Even for those HSP who are detached from their thoughts and emotions. In fact— emotionally detached individuals usually need to suppress feelings with food, alcohol which changes body constitution to acidity– opposed to 7.7 PH. This creates a breeding environment for bacteria and free radicals which lead to cancer and other physical and emotional imbalances.
A preventative Ayurvedic recommendation to remove toxins from the body is tongue scraping. There are many benefits to this daily practice as far as oral health, and overall physical, mental, and spiritual health. Since the oral cavity is one of the main gateways between your mind/body and the environment, maintaining the health of this connection is critical to general well-being.
Tongue scraping, removes toxins and bacteria which causes foul smell, tastelessness … and by taking out dirt coated on the tongue, teeth and mouth brings relish immediately.” No doubt, people who clean their tongue on a daily basis can validate the invigorating effects this practice has.
Tongue scraping is a direct way of removing Ama from your physiology. In Ayurveda, Ama refers to any accumulation of toxic residue in the mind-body— caused Anxiety and Stress which affects the digestion . An accumulation of Ama is also a result of improper eating, alcohol consumption, poor digestion, and/or—- a reflection of an imbalance somewhere in the gastrointestinal system.
In addition, from an Ayurvedic perspective, by removing Ama, the white coating (toxins) on your tongue allows you to taste your food better, which makes it more satisfying. By increasing your taste reception, not only do you eat less, you also eliminate the need to add more sugar, salt, or excessive spice to the food to make it more flavorful. Many of the beneficial phytonutrients and “body signals” that your food contains are first interpreted by the mind-body upon contact with receptors on the tongue. You want to improve this communication between your food and your body by removing any coating that is interfering with that connection. Also, many herbs have their beneficial effects from the initial contact with receptors on the tongue. Hence, you need a clear tongue to receive this healthy information.
Western medicine is also beginning to acknowledge coating on the tongue as a sign of poor health. a coated or hairy tongue is a sign of imbalance of keratin on the tongue. When the diet is too soft or the oral cavity is irritated in some way keratin can accumulate. When bacteria grow on this layer of keratin, it can lead to discoloration of the coating, which many people notice. It’s easy to see how a healthy diet that consists of plant roughage and fiber, and where food is not overcooked or too soft, will help maintain this balance. It’s therefore important to get healthy “textured” food in your diet, such as fiber from fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains, as well as nuts and seeds. While Ayurvedic and Holistic Health Coaches do recommend tongue scraping to address this issue. Most practictioners regard the coating as “harmless.” However, from my Ayurvedic view of health I believe we have an increased awareness of how this coating can ultimately affect many aspects of your physical and emotional well-being because it is a sighn that the bodies ph is to acidity and that there are digestion imbalances in the physical body.
5% of sickness and diseases are inherited. The way we think, diet, lifestyle practices and ones character all contribute to ones physical health. Allergies, stomach disorders, anxiety, depression feeling manic, adrenal fatigue and candida are all signs that one should be practicing tongue scraping.
Understand, that none of these imbalances will kill you but they all contribute to one getting cancer and other diseases that will.
I personally like to do my tongue scraping before I rinse my mouth with coconut oil. Swishing coconut oil in your mouth after tongue scrapping allows you to pull out more toxins, removes any excess plaque from the teeth and improves overall hygiene.
Use A Copper Spoon or Scraper when tongue scraping ——– Here is how ……
While a gold or silver tongue scraper would be amazing, new research on the health benefits of copper Copper is the best metal for tongue scraping because the mouth is loaded with both good and not-so-good bacteria. Copper not only seems to be toxic to the bad bacteria, it also provides important enzymes that are needed for the healthy microbes in the mouth to survive. In one study, the antiseptic benefits of copper were so great that, when copper was put in hospital rooms as furnishings, the bacteria count on all of the surfaces in the rooms was significantly reduced.
Beyond the benefits of oral hygiene, tongue scraping, brushing, and flossing the teeth followed by drinking a large glass of water is a strategic way to kick-start the digestive process. By stimulating the taste buds with tongue scraping, not only is the tongue better able to perceive tastes and properly digest foods, this taste bud-activation also engages the lower intestines to initiate a complete bowel elimination first thing in the morning.
A copper tongue scraper will not only offer great oral hygiene benefits while scraping the tongue, it will also resist bacterial accumulation while not in use – results that last! Due to its beneficial properties, silver would be the second choice for tongue scraper material, although stainless steel is more than adequate to perform the job.
Tongue Scraping should be done as soon as one rises in the morning especially after periods of high stress and ingesting foods and drinks that are high in acidity. Here is how to Scrape your Tongue —–
1. In the morning, right after you wake up, scrape your tongue. Make it the first thing you do. Even if you wake up in the middle of the night, scraping the tongue followed by a glass of water can reduce accumulating digestive ama (toxins).
2. With a relaxed tongue, using your U-shaped tongue scraper, gently reach to the back of the tongue and scrape the tongue from back to front. Repeat this 5-10 times, reaching as far back as comfortable, rinsing the scraper after each pass. A slight gag can help bring up some mucus and ama from the back of the throat.
3. Follow tongue scraping with brushing (with non-fluoride toothpaste), flossing, and a large glass of water.
4. To complete an Ayurvedic oral hygiene routine, this can be followed by oil pulling – of course, this would require another round of tooth brushing.
5. Get into the habit of scraping your tongue prior to each brushing.
